Charitytunes.com Vancouver Start up

CharityTunesCharity Tunes is a project that my sister has been involved in for the past few months. I haven’t paid much attention to it but it looks like they’re finally open for business. Their business model is pretty simple. They provide the e-commerce technology for artist to sell their music online and part of the proceeds go to charity. She calls it Conscious Consumerism. While I was kind of skeptical at first it did feel good to buy something and know that a chunk of that money went to supporting a charity.

They are still in Beta right now so there isn’t a lot of product or charities to choose from. I bought their Halloween Thriller Package promotion which donates 50% of the money to a charity of my choice. I was surprised how pleasing the experience was.

The site doesn’t look very Web 2.0, but it works, it is functional and it is fast. The cart is simple and works well. I entered my personal information, browsed the site a bit more and when I went back to the cart it took me to where I left off. I was pretty happy with that. Check out was just as painless. Type in your credit card info, check out. Ease of use was near the Amazon level. I hope they keep it that way.

If you have a few moments check out their site, but their Thriller Package and support a charity while you’re at it.
