Real Estate Leaders on the MLS Controversy

Every year REM (Real Estate Magazine) asks real estate industry leaders to share their thoughts about one topic. The topic this year are the controversial resolutions CREA is bringing forward to deny access to non-Realtors to the MLS system. These resolutions were deferred until CREA’s AGM this March after concerns that the changes would be anti-competitive.

This would be an interesting read for anybody interested in opening up the listings data in Canada allowing non-Realtors to add listings to MLS . The list of respondents are:

  1. Joan Malay, Broker - Regency Real Estate, Halifax
  2. Wayne Zuk, Broker - Realty Executives, Saskatoon
  3. Gerard Daly, Broker - First Realty Company of New Brunswick, Fredericton
  4. Don Lawby, President and COO - Century 21 Canada
  5. Ron Stader, Broker/Co-Owner - CIR Realtors, Calgary
  6. Gary Hockey, President and CEO, Coldwell Banker Canada
  7. Paul Legault, President and General Manager - La Capitale Real Estate Network
  8. Paul Doucet, Broker - Prudential Property Specialists, Bedford, N.S.
  9. Ted Zaharko, Broker - Royal LePage Foothills Real Estate, Calgary
  10. Andrew Cimerman, Founder and CEO - HomeLife Realty Services
  11. Scott Shaw, CEO - Sutton Group
