I’ve completely lost track of what time it is. I’m writing this in the business center of the tranfer hotel in the Incheon Airport in South Korea. It has been a long, I don’t know, 16 hours. I feel like I haven’t slept in about 2 days (I haven’t). Our morning started out by waiting in the longest check in line I’ve ever been in. After clearing security we wound up waiting an extra 2 hours for our flight to Korea.
Unfortunately that two hour delay caused us to miss our connector so now we’re stuck in Incheon for 24 hours until we can catch the next plane to Malaysia. However, other than a vacation day nothing else was lost. In these situations Air Canada provides a night’s stay and meal vouchers for orphaned travelers until they can be on their way. If I was a frequent international traveler I may be put out a bit by this experience. However, this is my first time in Asia, being delayed, being stuck in a free hotel, so it isn’t so bad. Vacations are about new experiences right?
Anyways, things are going alright so far. Right now it is 9:00pm (4am Vancouver)Â in Korea, the airport is fairly empty and I’m ready to meet my pillow. I uploaded a few photos to Flickr for those at home. Here’s the photo set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/benzo/sets/72157594531538674/
A few funny/interesting things so far:
- These may be funny/interesting because I’m in a sleep deprived zombie like state
- We brought 4 currencies with us: US, Canadian, Hong Kong and Malaysian. The one that we need most right now is Korean… go figure.
- They have Bon Jovi’s greatest hits CD on constant rotation here. Whoa Oh! Living on a prayer!
- Food is smaller here.
- So are the hotel rooms.
- So are the girls. The guys are quite tall.
