Crossfit Work out #7 - Girls kick my ass…

Work outs at Crossfit are named after hurricanes and hurricanes are named after women. Today’s workout kick my ass pretty bad. I haven’t worked out so hard and haven’t felt so happy in a while.

The work out:

  1. Warm up: 500m Row - 1:47 seconds. My first 500M row as 1:59 seconds. So I cut 12 seconds off my time. Yay.
  2. Technique: Hang Squat Clean (HSC). All explained in the YouTube video below.
  3. Work out: Lil’ Phoebe
    1. 3 x 21 (at 65lbs for me) of HSC
    2. 3 x 400M run. After each set of HSC
    3. My time: ~ 22min. (not very good) :b
  4. Here’s what the work out looks like:

This is probably one of the hardest work outs I’ve ever done. All those years of sitting on my ass writing web applications have done nothing for my cardio. Go figure? Anyways, I hope to drop my time down to 13 minutes in the next few months.

I was feeling pretty crummy today. It was a combination of things bothering me professionally and personally and I was causing myself to really feel down. After my work out everything felt lighter. There is something extremely therapeutic about pushing yourself past what you think you can do and coming out stronger on the other side. No wonder that Crossfit is so addicting. Honeslty I dread going there and I am so relieved when it’s over. The time in between? It’s hard to describe how much value it adds, physically and psychologically to life.
