Crossfit Vancouver Workout #15 - Plaza of Death

Before I dive into today’s workout let me catch you up on Workout #14. In my my last work out I mentioned that if I don’t blog by Tuesday, I died. My trainer must have read that because when I showed up today he tried to kill me. :)

Anyways, workout #14 first:

  • Warm up: Knees to Elbows. You hang on the pull up bar, and try to pull your knees to your elbows.
  • Technique: Front Squat
  • Work out:
    • Front Squat 135 lbs.
    • Sprinting: 20m x 2, 60m x 2, 100m x 2. Here are my times:
    • 20 m - 4.15s
    • 20 m - 4.65s
    • 60 m - 10.56s
    • 60 m - 10.19s
    • 100m - 17.87s
    • 100m - 17.22s
  • I think he made me run fast cause I couldn’t front squat much that day.

Now onto Workout #15 and my graduation from Crossfit Junior High.

It has been about 8 weeks since my first introductory work out. Here is my the first workout, which I couldn’t finish:

  1. A timed run around the block carrying a 20lb ball. Approximately a 400m run. I was winded but not dead.
  2. Do as many push ups as you can. I think I did around 35.
  3. Do as many pull ups as you can. I did three.
  4. Do as many triceps dips as you can. I think I did about 12.
  5. Do as many sit ups as you can. I probably did about 30 to 35.
  6. Do as many squats as you can. Never made it this far.

Now my progress 8 wees later, I proudly present:

The Plaza of Death

  1. 50 squats
  2. 40 sit ups
  3. 30 push ups
  4. 20 pull ups
  5. 4KM run. View the route on Google Maps. There and back.
  6. 50 squats
  7. 40 sit ups
  8. 30 push ups
  9. 20 pull ups

Here it is, completed, 32 minutes and 7 seconds:

That’s my improvement in 8 weeks. And yes, my nick name is The Butler. I should have known telling the story of what my parents named me after would come back to haunt me.

I’m part of the regular classes starting this Saturday. The first eight weeks were just the beginning. Who would have thought that Troy’s blog entry would start me down this path of fitness.

I still haven’t posted any before and after photos. I have some pictures of me topless (calm down now) when I went to Malaysia this February. I’ll post my 6 month pictures and my 12 month pictures as a comparison.

I’ll likely blog a lot less about Crossfit and begin to focus on technology again. This is MostlyGeek after all. :)
