Following up on today’s post of making healthy foods more convenient I packed up a bunch snacks that equal approximately 5 blocks of fat. It does not take a lot of walnuts, pecans and macadamia nuts to make 5g of fat. So instead I created 10 block bags instead.
Here’s me doing some basic math to create essentially 10 x 10 fat block bags of nuts:
I tried to measure as accurately as possible. By weighing more serving at the same time I hoped to improve the accuracy of my measurement.
However it wasn’t as easy to be accurate as I thought. So a few insights and results of the measuring and preparation process.
- I wound up with 20 bags of nuts. I measured enough for 30. So it was difficult to break up the servings into small portions.
- It is better to measure out more servings at one time. I say 10 days worth of servings is enough. That works out to quite a large bowl of nuts.
- Measure out a day’s worth per bag. Measuring and splitting based on meal / snack sizes is too hard and too inaccurate. This also simplifies the eating task. Rather than eating 3 small bags a day. I have one larger bag that I need to consume with my meals throughout the day. My goal after all is to consume enough fat. So if I consume the whole bag I know I’ve met my quota for the day.
